IKARUS

(A): Helianthus annuus. 91 days. Ht. 48". Light yellow with abundant 4-6" flowers adorn 30" stems on this basal branching variety. High yields; strong stems. Cut flowers can be stored at 36-41°F up to 7 days in citric-acid solution. A 20" x 20" spacing yields best branching.

First sunflower to win an *AAS award. This big sister to Sonja, with larger flowers and thicker, more sturdy stems, is an *AAS 2000 winner. Produces as many as 20 -25 stems per plant averaging 20" in length and sporting 4" golden orange blooms.

"Single-stemmed, pollenless blooms. Long-lasting cut flowers. Well-formed 4-6" densely petaled flowers. Will grow in most soils, but do best in light, well-drained soil, and It will grow in hot, dry conditions. Bright yellow w/black center.

'Big Smile'

Bright, golden yellow sunflower. Extra dwarf, only 2-3 feet, and early blooming at 55-60 days after sowing. Big Smile is also day neutral, so it can be coaxed into bloom year 'round either in the garden or in the greenhouse. The bright golden ray petals are offset by a dramatic black center.is an adaptable variety which will flower well at about 15in (38cm) in a pot or 2ft (60cm) or more in the border.

RED SUN


The 5-6 inch flowers have dark centers and are surrounded by 2 rows of glorious warm bronze-maroon petals.  The plants are 5 1/2-6 feet tall with 10 or more buds per plant. These can be great cut flowers, lasting up to 10 days in the vase.

*AAS  Winner Tithonia reaching only 2 to 3 feet tall and about 12 inches wide. It needs full sun to produce an abundance of 2-inch, single orange
flowers that stand up like Mexican sun hats (hence the reason butterflies and hummingbirds love them.

More Sunflowers.

Planting guide lines: Plant seeds in a well drained place in full sunlight. Plant seeds about 1/2 inch deep and 8 to 12 inches apart. Apply some all purpose fertilizer and water well. For best growing conditions make sure the plants get at least 1 2 inches of water per week.
